Under 19 season in review: Under 19 academy

The U19 Academy Boys took part in the Metropolitan Premier Cup (Bayhill Tournament), Brondby Cup and the league.

The League

Played 18 games
Won 13 out of the 18 games
Drew 3 games
Lost 2 games
Goals For – 54
Goals Against – 17
Points – 42 out of a possible 54
They finished 1st on the log ahead of SuperSport United (2nd – 36 points) and Mamelodi Sundowns (3rd – 34 points).

The boys took part in the Metropolitan Premier Cup (Bayhill Tournament) – April 2015

They finished top of their group.
They were knocked out in the Quarter-Finals losing to the Old Mutual Academy by 4 goals to 2.

Brondby Cup – Denmark, July 2015
The tournament was played in a league format with 5 teams participating.
They finished as overall runners up behind Nordsjaelland.


Most Improved Player: awarded to Koketso Boshigo
He had a slow start to the season, but then adapted well as the season continued and became one of the best players in the team.

Top Goal Scorer: awarded to Somila Ntsundwane

He scored 19 goals for the. Also worth mentioning are Phakamani Mahlambi who scored 14 goals, Sizwe Twala who scored 9 goals and Luvuyo Mkatshana who scored 6 goals.

Players’ Player of the Year: awarded to Mthokozisi Shwabule
As the captain of the team, he led by example by giving everything at training and in all matches. He is a good team player who is disciplined and dedicated.

Special mention goes to the following players who were called up to the Under 17 National squad after the inter-provincial tournament this year:
