Bidvest Wits Aim for CAF Group Stages

Bidvest Wits jetted out to Angola on Monday from OR Tambo airport in preparation for the 1st leg of the CAF Champions League match against Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto.

The Braamfontein outfit advanced to the preliminary round after beating Pamplemousses 2-1 on aggregate.

Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto is a multisports club from Luanda, Angola. The club, founded August 1, 1977, is attached to the Angolan armed forces, which is its main sponsor. Its main team competes in men’s football, and its professional basketball team is also noteworthy within the club.

This is the first time the Johannesburg based side will be competing for a spot in the group stages.

The Angolan based side will return to South Africa for the second leg on Saturday, the 17th of March at the Bidvest Stadium.

Tomorrow’s hosts are participating in the CAF Champions League for the 11th time since the club was founded in 1977.
