The MTN8 battle lines are drawn

The MTN 8 is South Africa's oldest football cup competition, heading into it’s ninth edition. It is made up of the top eight teams at the close of the previous ABSA Premiership season.

The first round is structured so that the team at the top of the previous season’s table plays the team that finished eighth; second place plays seventh; third plays sixth and fourth plays fifth. The semi-finals are played over two legs.

The MTN8 Quarter Final weekend kicked off last night in Cape Town with Kaizer Chiefs bowing out of the competition to Cape Town City who were the eventual 1-0 winners.

Bidvest Wits take on Orlando Pirates this evening at the Bidvest Stadium with kickoff set for 20h15.

The Braamfontein outfit have started the season well with a win against Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership, however Gavin Hunt says that the squad has their work cut out for them in the MTN8 as a cup game is very different to the league.

Tickets are still available for the match at TicketPro outlets country wide. R80 for adults and R15 for children under 12.
