Advantage City in MTN8 semi

Cape Town City will head into the MTN8 semi-final second leg against Bidvest Wits with a goal advantage after bagging a 1 - 0 win at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday.

The sides were tight and tactical from the off, with neither side wanting to give anything away too easily.

Bidvest Wits had the first real chance of the game when Monare met a cross at the back post, his header smartly saved by Shu-Aid Walters to keep the sides level.

City proved their prowess from set-plays for the second time in a week when a long throw found Ayanda Patosi in the area who smashed home from close range in the 44th minute.

The second half saw Benni McCarthy’s side with numbers behind the ball and putting their bodies on the line in order to maintain their slender advantage.

Gavin Hunt will feel confident about his chances at home. When the sides met last year at the same stage of the MTN8, his side were able to net 3 unanswered goals at home which was enough to see the Braamfontein Outfit progress to the final.

The second leg promises to be an exciting encounter and takes place at Bidvest Stadium on Sunday 10 September 2017, kick off is set for 15h00.
