Bidvest Wits reclaim top spot

The Clever Boys secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lamontville Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership clash last night at the Bidvest Stadium.

An early injury to Monare in the 16th minute did not seem to affect the pace of the Braamfontein outfit.

Gabadinho Mhango netted a superb goal from the penalty spot just after the 20-minute mark after Matome Mathiane was penalised for a handball in the area.

Golden Arrows had their first attempt at goal in the 26th minute but the shot flew over Darren Keet’s cross bar.

Half time saw with Bidvest Wits leading the visitors 1-0 in their 21st Absa Premiership fixture of the 2016/17 season.

In the 65th minute, Ngele made his mark with a superb long-range strike giving the home side a 2 – 0 lead. The Abafana Bes’thende keeper was caught off guard with Ngele’s trademark long-range scorcher that left the goalkeeper rooted to the ground.

Four minutes later the contest was over as Ngele bagged his brace, sweeping home with composure following a great cross by Mhango.

Hunt’s men comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to seal a result that returns Bidvest Wits to the number one spot on the log with a 2 point lead over Cape Town City.
