Sunday’s match between Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City was one largely dominated by Gavin Hunt’s charges but they were, unfortunately, unable to translate this into points on the scoreboard.
An own goal by Cape Town City’s Robyn Johannes started the game off in the 18th minute, but the team levelled the score in the 27th minute as the new comer Amar Gamal netted the second own goal of the match giving the visitors a 2-1 lead on aggregate.
The Braamfontein outfit needed three goals without reply in the closing 20 minutes and looked dejected as the goal effectively ended the tie as a contest.
“We can’t just expect to win games with the players that we have, we have to put it out on the field as well. There is no use that we as players speak about the hunger and the desire in the changeroom and then we come out on the field and there is nothing. On the field is where it needs to happens for us.” Moeneeb Josephs
