The hosts dealt well with the attacking onslaught from Hunt’s side who started positively and looked lively throughout the encounter.
The hosts enjoyed a more positive spell of play as the first half drew to a close. The sides went onto the break locked at 0-0.
Bidvest Wits came out guns blazing in the second half. Ngele tapped them into the lead in the 47th minute when Mpakumpaku palmed Uzoenyi’s effort into his path.
Ngele’s second was the polar opposite of the first, an unstoppable shot from 25 yards out rifled into the bottom corner nine minutes after his first goal.
Eleazar Rodgers came close four minutes later with a powerful header but the All Stars keeper made a good stop to keep the deficit to 2.
The win sees Bidvest Wits advance to the round of 16. The draw takes place on Thursday evening.
