Bidvest Wits will look to continue their dominance over Lamontville Golden Arrows when two teams clash on Thursday.
The encounter which is scheduled to take place at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium will be the 33rd Premier Soccer League (PSL) meeting between the two teams.
The Clever Boys have dominated this fixture having claimed 19 wins compared to five for Abafana Bes’thende, while eight matches have been drawn.
Furthermore, Abafana Bes’thende have won just three of their 16 home matches in the rivalry, suffering nine defeats in the process.
Wits are also enjoying a three-match unbeaten run against Arrows having registered two victories and one draw.
Gavin Hunt’s side took four points off Arrows in the teams’ two league meetings last season.
Their clash in Johannesburg in December 2018 ended 2-2 with Simon Murray and Gift Motupa netting for the Clever Boys.
Then a solitary goal by Frank Mhango saw the Clever Boys win the return game 1-0 in Durban in May 2019.
Abafana Bes’thende have not won a home league match against the Students since February 2007.
Wits’ key players are Thulani Hlatshwayo and Deon Hotto, who have been very influential for the Braamfontein-based side this season.
Inspirational captain and defender Hlatshwayo, who has scored two goals in the current campaign, will be looking to lead his troops to a win in Durban.
Tricky winger Hotto is Wits’ current top goalscorer in the league having scored three goals and he will be keen to add to his tally against Arrows.
