BIDVest Wits F.C Sign Batabire

Former Bloemfontein Celtic defender Timothy Batabaire has signed a one-year contract with the Clever Boys.

The Ugandan, who was put on transfer by Phunya Sele Sele at the end of last season, trained with Wits for a week before coach Roger de Sa was convinced.

Batabaire is happy to still be playing in the Absa Premiership this season.

“Yes, it is true that I have just finalised a one-year deal with Wits and I am happy the coach showed trust in me. I would like to repay the confidence shown in me with good performances and help my new teammates do well this season.” he said.

After leaving Celtic, the 28-year old returned to his homeland where he continued to train on his own to keep fit before joining Wits at training.

Meanwhile, the club has parted ways with midfielder Richard Rantjie, the former SuperSport United and national Under-23 winger terminated his contract with the Clever Boys before the transfer window period expired last week. With the help of his agent, he is currently pursuing a move to overseas.
