Bidvest Wits beat Real Kings 4-0 in a commanding display at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont on Friday evening to book their place in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
Bienvenu Eva Nga, Lorenzo Gordinho and Terrence Dzvukamanja found the back of the net for the Clever Boys, while Lesego Manganyi netted an own goal.
The Clever Boys dominated the early exchanges and were only denied the game’s opener in the fifth minute by a superb bit of last-ditch defending as Dzvukamanja had his shot cleared off the line.
Brandon Petersen had to be at his best in the 28th minute to keep out Sedwyn George’s volley attempt in what was Kings’ best chance of the match, before Eva Nga deservedly fired BWFC in front on the cusp of half-time.
The burly forward profited from a pint-point Zitha Macheke cross: nodding home from close range to give the visitors a narrow lead at the break.
Gordinho doubled the Clever Boys lead six minutes after the interval with a towering header from an Elias Pelembe corner-kick before Dzvukamanja’s shot deflected off Manganyi and into the back of the net three minutes later.
Dzvukamanja got his goal in the 68th minute. Following a neat through ball by Pelembe, the forward rounded the on-rushing Sabelo Nkomo before passing the ball into an open net to round off a commanding win.
