CLEVER BOYS OUTDO LEOPARDS AT HOME

Bidvest Wits secured a vital win at home in the Absa Premiership by defeating Black Leopards 3-1 at the Bidvest Stadium.

Bidvest Wits secured a vital win at home in the Absa Premiership by defeating Black Leopards 3-1 at the Bidvest Stadium.

Gift Motupa and Simon Murray were brought into the starting lineup by Gavin Hunt for this encounter after the duo missed the last clash away to Chippa United.

Leopards found an opportunity to go ahead in the 22ndminute after Buhle Mkwanazi fouled Mahangwahaya inside the area. Mwape Musonda stepped up to take the penalty, but ballooned it way over the crossbar.

The Clever Boys received a penalty of their own four minutes later after King Ndlovu hacked down Murray, who stepped up to slot the penalty calmly.

Just a minute later, Deon Hotto pushed into the area to head home a pin-point cross from Thulani Hlatshwayo.

Leopards were awarded a second penalty shortly before the halftime break, which Musonda made no mistake with this time.

Elias Pelembe wrapped up the tie in the 73rdminute after cutting in and finishing expertly with his left foot.

A superb save from Ricardo Goss in added time kept out Hlongwane’s curling shot as the encounter ended 3-1 in favour of Bidvest Wits and keeping the Clever Boys in the hunt for Absa Premiership glory.
