Deon Hotto’s fifth Absa Premiership goal of the season spearheaded Bidvest Wits to a 1-0 win over Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.
A return to winning ways in the league moves the Clever Boys up to 33 points, 12 behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs but having played two games less than their Gauteng rivals at the time of writing.
Hotto scored the only goal of the game two minutes after the half-time break.
Thabang Monare played a short corner to the Namibia international who’s cross-cum-shot whistled past everyone including Baroka goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze and into the back of the net.
Bakgaga pushed forward in the closing stages in search of the equaliser, but Gavin Hunt’s troops held firm as they duly conjured all three points on their travels to build on the club’s impressive away record this season.
Baroka ended the game with 10-men after the sending off of Richard Mbulu in second-half added time.
