League struggle continues for Champs

Bidvest Wits’ woes in the Absa Premiership campaign continued as they lost 0-1 against Platinum Stars at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Clever Boys had the first real chance of the game in the 13th minute after dominating the opening 10 minutes, with Gabadinho Mhango unable to find the target from close range.

Platinum Stars opened the scoring four minutes later from a corner, Robert Ng’ambi on target with his header to beat Darren Keet and hand his side the lead.

Hunt’s side went back on the offensive immediately, creating chance after chance, Thabang Monare coming closest in the 31st minute when his effort struck the upright.

Roger De Sa’s men were defending deep and managed to keep out the spell of Bidvest Wits dominance until the break.

The second half saw two attacking changes brought on in the form of Amr Gamal and Gerald Phiri as the hosts continued to search for an equaliser.

Thulani Hlatshwayo came close in the 48th minute, his header narrowly wide of the target.

With the clock winding down Eleazar Rodgers and Gamal both had great chances to level matters but failed to trouble Visser in goal.

Stars were living on the edge with 11 men behind the ball for most of the second half but managed to keep The Clever Boys at bay to secure three points on the road.
