Gavin Hunt marked his 750th game as a coach with a draw away to Rise and Shine.
The opening exchanges were tentative with neither side wanting to give away anything too cheaply.
Ghabadinho Mhango and Amr Gamal were causing the City defence issues once The Clever Boys had settled and found their rhythm but the hosts were disciplined and able to keep the attackers at bay.
Gamal came close to opening the scoring in the 37th minute after Sifiso Hlanti picked him out with a superb cross, the Egyptian striker just off target with his effort.
Rodney Ramagalela came close to putting the hosts ahead just before the break. City’s counter attack saw the attacker put his effort wide from inside the area.
Five minutes after the second half kick-off, Ramagalela found the back of the net after his shot took a wicked deflection to beat Darren Keet.
Hunt’s men went on the attack to look for a way back into the game, and Rise and Shine reverted to soaking up the pressure and looking to play on the break.
With the final seconds of the game ticking away Rodgers was able to salvage a point for the visitors with a headed effort from close range.
The league remains tightly contested with just nine points separating the league leaders and Bidvest Wits in 16th spot at the foot of the table.
