Ryan Chapman gives his thoughts on TKO Quarter Final.
Bidvest Wits captain Stanton Fredericks said he is anticipating a tough match when his side faces Jomo Cosmos in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals this weekend at the Sinaba Stadium.
Despite the two sides’ goalless draw earlier in league action this season, ‘Stiga’ is expecting a tough challenge from Cosmos. Ezenkosi have been playing attractive football even though they have not been winning games.
“We are not going to look too much into Cosmos’ league performance. I have seen it too many times that a team can do bad in the league but surprise many by going all the way to the finals,” says the former Dynamo Moscow midfielder.
“Taking that into account, we are not underestimating them. We just came from a win last night and hope the confidence can filter into Sunday’s cup game.”
Bidvest have been struggling for goals of late and the captain suggested that maybe applying a more offensive strategy might just do the trick for the Milpark-based outfit.
“Our goal scoring abilities have been lacking of late, but we have been working hard at training and judging by last night’s result in Cape Town, I am sure we will turn the corner. It is imperative that we attack from the word go,” 33 year-old added.
Judging by Ezenkosi’s performance in their emphatic win over Siwelele in the last round of TKO, Bidvest coach, Roger De Sa is unyielding that it will be a tough afternoon for the Clever Boys. “They will probably play more freely, more adventurous and attack more at home. Every single game is a challenge and a cup competition is even more tough and different. You will see a totally different Cosmos out there from the one you see in the league, so we just taking it game by game and we will give our best on match day and hopefully get a results that will enable us to progress to the next round.”
