Stiga positive ahead of Chiefs clash
Stanton ‘Stiga’ Fredericks feels that after coming away from Cape Town with a point against Chippa United, Bidvest Wits should win their next fixture, which is against his former team Kaizer Chiefs.
The Students needed an equaliser from Erwin Isaacs to claim a share of the spoils with the newly promoted side 1-1.
“I think we should win every game and coming up against Chiefs we should get all three points,”
the former Bafana Bafana international said.
“Sometimes football does not favour you when you go away, because we had a goal disallowed and we failed to convert about four or five chances.”
“Against Chippa we played under the circumstances and we will look into taking the positives from the match.”
“But having said that these are the games that we should be winning.”
‘Stiga’ is no stranger to the next opponents Chiefs; he had a successful spell at the club he joined when he signed from Wits. He has been on both sides of the fence in the last decade in this fixture and there is no better player equipped for this encounter.
“It is always good playing these big games no matter which side we are playing against. Now being on the side of Wits is what any footballer would want to do, to play in front of 40 000 screaming spectators,” Fredericks continued.
“This is another three points that we need to fight for. It is a home game and we want to win it.”
“We are looking forward to playing this match because it is a public holiday and it will be a festive experience. “
