Bidvest Wits drew 0-0 with Al Nasr SC in a CAF Confederation Cup, Group C match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday evening.
As a result, the Clever Boys remain third on the group standings with three matches played, while Al Nasr are fourth on the table.
The Clever Boys dominated the match from the start with Gift Motupa and Elias Pelembe looking lively for the home side.
The former South Africa under-23 international, Motupa had a chance to break the deadlock following a good move in the 15th minute but the Al Nasr goalkeeper Rabiaa Al Rasheed produced a great low save to deny him.
Gavin Hunt’s men continued to search for the opening goal, but Al Nasr defended in numbers which made it difficult for Wits to create clear cut scoring chances.
Motupa, though, found some space outside the visitors’ box just after the half-hour mark and unleashed a shot which flew inches over the crossbar.
The score was 0-0 at the break.
The Clever Boys continued to dominate the match in the second-half, but they were wasteful in front of goal.
Terrence Dzvukamanja placed his header over the crossbar before Motupa fired wide of the target from close range in the opening exchanges of the second half.
Ivan Mahangwahaya, who scored in the qualifying rounds, was introduced by coach Hunt as the hosts looked to grab a late goal.
Al Nasr coach Mohamed Alkikly reacted by introducing Ezuldeen Eisay inside the final 10 minutes of the encounter to keep it tight at the back.
The two teams launched late attacks, but they were unable to score on the night as Wits were held to a 0-0 draw by Al Nasr.
