WITS BALANCED FOR CELTIC CLASH

BIDVEST WITS WILL LOOK TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY DEFENSIVE RECORD WHILE PUSHING TO REGAIN TOP SPOT.

After 10 matches played in the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season, the Bidvest Wits defence have shown great consistency, maintaining the best defensive record in the league during the opening quarter of the season.

Gavin Hunt’s men have secured five clean sheets against Free State Stars, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu, Cape Town City and Highlands Park in the league; while also leading on the goal scoring front with 14 goals, together with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

The Clever Boys defence have been rewarded for their consistently solid defensive prowess as goalkeeper Darren Keet as well as defenders Thulani Hlatshwayo, Buhle Mkhwanazi and S’fiso Hlanti have all been called up to the South African national team for their upcoming AFCON qualifier against African giants, Nigeria.

The next assignment for the Clever Boys is a clash for top spot in the Absa Premiership against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening at 20:15.
