Bidvest Wits’ massive effort to regain the driving seat in the Absa Premiership was undone in the 92ndminute as Orlando Pirates performed a smash-and-grab.
The Clever Boys were the most threatening side in the first half, with Keegan Richie and Gift Motupa coming close to opening the scoring on a number of occasions, while Terrence Dzvukamanja also made his presence felt.
Ritchie almost broke the deadlock for the Clever Boys from a direct free-kick with seven minutes remaining but his left-footed strike sailed agonizingly wide of the post.
With the match heading towards a 0-0 draw, Pirates were lucky enough to get a winning goal as Ritchie flicked the ball into his own net with just seconds on the clock. It was a big performance by the Clever Boys, who were truly dominant in their approach but were unable to capitalize on the day.
