Bidvest Wits extended their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership table after staging a brilliant comeback to beat Free State Stars 2-1 at Goble Park
Free State Stars got off to a great start as striker Harris Tchilimbou headed them into the lead from close range. Although Wits came knocking several times, Stars defended bravely to maintain their lead and did so successfully until the 30thminute
Terrence Dzvukamanja rose above all to head the Clever Boys back to level terms, after meeting Deon Hotto’s inch-perfect free-kick.
Free State Stars goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare kept his side in the match, making some good saves to deny Hotto and Mkhwanazi.
Elias Pelembe gave the Clever Boys a 2-1 lead in the 73rd minute with a diving header as Hotto emerged as provider once again – finishing off a clinical attack in what proved to be the match-winning goal.
Gavin Hunt’s men defended expertly to see out the 2-1 lead over Stars, extending their lead over Orlando Pirates at the top of the Absa Premiership log.
