Bidvest Wits booked their place in the last 16 of the 2019 Nedbank Cup with a 4-0 win over Boyne Tigers at the Bidvest Stadium.
Head coach Gavin Hunt freshened up his squad ahead of the clash against the ABC Motsepe League outfit – Haashim Domingo, Daylon Claasen, Keegan Ricthie, Sibusiso Kumalo, Dennis Weidlich, Simon Murray, Gabadinho Mhango and goalkeeper Ricardo Goss were all handed starts.
Domingo opened the scoring as early as the 11thminute with a comfortable finish inside the penalty area. The lead was doubled four minutes later with Domingo completing his brace after turning home a cross from Simon Murray.
Murray got in on the action in the 22ndminute as the Scottish striker went past two defenders before finding the back of the net with the outside of his right foot.
The Scotsman completed his brace and extended the Clever Boys’ lead a few minutes later after some great work by Domingo and Mhango to free Murray up for a simple tap in at the far post.
The Clever Boys continued to dominate proceedings in the second half and dictated the tempo throughout the match.
A couple more chances fell to Keegan Ritchie and Gabadinho Mhango in the second half, but the score line remained unchanged throughout.
Tshakuma FC booked their place in the Last 16 next to the Clever Boys so far as we await the rest of the matches being played over the next few days.
